Dr. Alexandra (Alexa) Short has been a practicing audiologist since 2017. She received her bachelor’s degree in communication sciences and disorders in 2013 and completed her fourth-year residency at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Medical Center and the Children’s Hospital of Richmond, where she specialized in pediatric and adult amplification and cochlear implants. Dr. Short earned her clinical doctorate in audiology in 2017 from James Madison University and, following graduation, worked as a clinical audiologist at Ear, Nose, and Throat and Facial Plastic Surgery Center of Fredericksburg, where she specialized in pediatric and adult diagnostics and adult amplification.
She is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and the Academy of Doctors of Audiology. She is also a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Her specialty areas include fitting advanced hearing instruments and performing a variety of diagnostic evaluations for adults and pediatric populations.
Alexa is a Williamsburg native and recently relocated back home to Williamsburg with her fiancé, Nathan, and two miniature dachshunds, Peyton and Bentley. In her spare time, she enjoys working out and spending time with her family and friends by the river.
