October 29 / 11am – 1pm
Although hearing loss is most commonly considered an inner-ear problem, it is actually the brain that performs several functions simultaneously to process sound. It uses the ears to help orient body position, focuses attention on sounds you want to hear, recognizes sounds, and separates relevant information from competing noise.
Topics of Discussion Will Include:
- Risk factors of hearing loss
- The relationship between untreated hearing loss and dementia
- What is tinnitus?
- What to look for in a hearing care professional
- The truth about costs of hearing aids — price vs. value
