Eric Hecker, Ph.D.
Clinical Audiologist
Eric Hecker completed his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Virginia Tech in 1985. He earned his master’s degree in Audiology from the University of Virginia in 1988 and completed his Ph.D. in Audiology at UVA in 1995. The emphasis of his doctoral studies was auditory neurophysiology. He is certified in Audiology by the American Speech and Hearing Association and holds Virginia state licensure for Audiology and hearing aid dispensing.
Dr. Hecker has worked for Dr. Hecker & Associates, Audiology, since 1985 and has been a Clinical Audiologist with the practice since 1988. He is currently President of the corporation with locations in Newport News, Williamsburg and Hampton, Virginia. His primary areas of specialty include electrophysiological evaluation, auditory rehabilitation with an emphasis on digital hearing aids, and working within the industry to establish and maintain Hearing Conservation Programs.
Dr. Hecker is a member of numerous professional organizations including the Academy of Doctors of Audiology, Speech and Hearing Association of Virginia, American Academy of Audiology, Audiological Resource Association and Tidewater Audiological Society. He is also on the medical staff at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News, VA. Current Board positions include Director of Education for Audigy Group and Board of Directors of Accreditation Commission for Audiology Education (ACAE).
Dr. Hecker is blessed with a very supportive wife and two children who keep him very busy when he is not in the office.
Jay Eackles, Au.D., FAAA
Clinical Audiologist
Dr. Jay Eackles has been a practicing audiologist since 1984. He spent 18 years as a solo audiologist working in Otolaryngology medical practices in Martinsville, VA and Hampton, VA. Prior to his employment with Dr. Hecker and Associates, he was a pediatric audiologist with the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters.
Jay received his bachelor’s degree in speech and hearing sciences and his master’s degree in Audiology from James Madison University. He received his doctor of audiology degree from A.T. Still University. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and the Academy of Doctor’s of Audiology. His specialty areas include fitting advanced digital hearing instruments and the diagnosis and remediation of vestibular abnormalities.
When away from the office, Jay enjoys spending time with family and friends. He has been married to his wife Kathy since 1985, and they live in Hampton with their dog, Sam.
Teresa Graham M.S.
Audiologist
Mrs. Theoni (Teresa) Graham earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in audiology from Radford University and has been practicing audiology in the Tidewater area for over 20 years. Teresa’s diverse career in audiology began in 1983 at Hearing Evaluation and Noise Protection Associates working with Henry C. Hecker. In 1986, she moved from private practice audiology to NASA Langley Research Center where she remained for seven years. In 1993, Teresa accepted a teaching position at Hampton University in the Department of Communication Disorders where she remained until 1988. In May of 1988, Teresa returned to private practice audiology and rejoined the team at Dr. Hecker & Associates.
Teresa holds her Virginia State licensure in audiology, is a licensed hearing aid specialist and a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. Teresa specializes in diagnostic audiology and the management of auditory disorders. Management techniques include fitting of advanced digital hearing aids, counseling and communication training for both of the hearing instrument wearer and their family members.
Away from the office, Teresa is an avid walker and lives with her husband and three children in Newport News, Virginia.
